About

About Card Payment Connect

An independent UK service helping businesses understand what they are really paying for card processing, and whether more suitable provider options may exist.

Why we exist

Many merchant statements are difficult to understand. Costs can build up through transaction fees, recurring charges, terminal rental, PCI fees, settlement costs and contract terms.

Our goal is to give UK businesses a clearer, independent view of what they are paying and what their realistic options are, before they make any decision.

Founder & company story

Matt McCarthy, founder of Card Payment Connect
Matt McCarthy
Founder, ICP Connects Limited

Matt has worked in the UK merchant services industry for over 10 years. During his career he has worked with businesses including Paymentsense (now Dojo), Handepay, Payzone during its Barclaycard partnership, Teya and Worldpay, and has worked alongside acquiring banks and providers including Barclaycard and Worldpay.

Across different roles he has helped businesses understand merchant fees, contracts and pricing structures, and identify significant savings in card processing costs. Over the last decade he has seen how merchant pricing, contracts, terminal rental, PCI fees and provider behaviour have changed — and where UK businesses most commonly end up overpaying.
